The stage is set, the speaker is announced, and the audience are ready to be amazed. That is how I take the forthcoming Apple Event which is to be set on January 2010. The rumor, as it always had it, is that Apple will finally launch their Apple Tablet. There is 50-50 chances for this to happen, as Wall Street Journal mentions that Apple has already started debriefing on how their content will work on the system.
This must be the first time that people are going crazy about a non-existence product. It has become like an Unicorn. Unicorn is a fantasy creature, but there exist so much information about the creature that its almost real. Philosophically, “It exists because you believe in it.” Similar is the case with Apple Tablet, there are tons of information and prototype all around the internet and we have no choice but to believe that “Yes, it exist.”
If we move from Macintosh to iPhone, the common factor would be the scattering of people’s perception. How successful will Apple be this time? Remember, we are in the social media age where ideas and information move like a viral flu. Thousands of people have already worked on the conceptual idea of how the iTablet is going to look like, we already have few competitors in the market like Nook, Kindle, and other Android Tablet. Hence, the crowd is fully aware of the fact of its existence and has certain perception of look and feel. This is an advantage as well as disadvantage to Apple because Apple can either follow the perception or completely go the other way around and dazzle people. Hardware concept is only the tip of ice-berg, Apple is popular for their user interface, hence it will be the key point to look out in the iTablet.
WSJ analyst, Gene Munster, have mentioned that Tablet will be around 7-10 inches with a price tag of $500 – $700 !! Munster assumes that the operating system will be the tweak of iPhone, or mlti-touched-enabled Mac OS X. The device will have 3G wireless card integrated and an access to portal like iTunes to make purchase. Well, we have to wait till the end of January to exactly what’s up selves of Apple.
