Google Voice enabled easy management of your voice communications changing the way you use your phone. But with all the convenient features it provided , the service required choosing a new number that often left the voice mail inbox of your old number to be dealt separately. But Google valuing its customers and their convenience now allows you to keep your number and still get Google’s upgraded voice mail features.
You’ll need a Google Voice invitation to get started that you may request an invite or ask a friend with a Google Voice account to send you an invitation. You then have the option between choosing a new number or your existing one. Once procedure completed , your voicemail will be routed to Google’s servers, transcribed and sent to you by SMS or email, if you’d like, and accessible from your Voice web page. That means the voicemail messages from people who call your mobile number will be taken over by Google Voice. S you get many of Google Voice’s features when using your own number where you’ll also be able to set up custom greetings for each caller to your voicemail.
Here is a video for the new feature guiding you to keep your voicemail consistent between carriers.
The concept seems good and useful and being free will attract many users. But conditional forwarding has been available from long time and YouMail had been providing a similar service too. Also its the new users who have the option to use their existing phone number by porting it, but does that mean the old users will have to start afresh? Well we just hope this new option makes it easier for us to manage our messages and personalize voicemail experience as Google promises.
