Lets start with the numbers, as for 11th August 2009, Apple was worth $145.87 billion, compared with Google’s $143.40 billion. Almost a difference of 2 Billions dollar. This difference result from the very fact that the market share of Apple is much larger and wider than that of the Google. Apple has more to offer to the public than the Google. The analysis below is based on the news published in business week.
And Apple has far more room to grow based on its core businesses. While Google gets about 70% of the revenue from the $14 billion online search advertising business, Apple has well under 10% of the computer business, and about 8% of cell-phone revenue.

. . .
Where as most of the revenue for Google is only from search advertising business. It has many web products but all are free to the public. And it is this very nature of the products which have made google a better competitor in the internet world. If Google only had a search engine than it would not be able to make the association that it has today with the public. On the other hand, Apple stand for more than just a mac or iphone or its OS.
Apple stands for the revolution it brought to the computer industries, its popular for the nature of quality of products it brings to the people. Overall it is popular for the philosophy of perfect design. The fan base of Apple is much stronger than that of the Google, of which I am pretty sure.
Further, continuous innovation of Apple in computer hardware industry is just amazing. The kind of culture it has brought in the consumer is immense. With such portfolio in its hand, its really tough for any other company to compete with the BRAND apple, not even google.
In near future, Apple is about to come with a brand new hardware – Tablet, which is much anticipated and may be the NEXT big thing. Also, Google’s search engine has been much in the target from other search engine company like Bing and Yahoo.
On the other hand, Google is also known in the space of innovation in similar way as that of Apple. But the difference lies in the fact that Apple charges its product whereas Google have a culture to give it for free. I really cannot predict how will consumer react if the products are charged. Following the argument, apple’s product are most expensive thus if by any reason apple comes in a condition of failure then just by decreasing its price and win the market share.
While it now has 38% of the market for laptops costing $1,000 or more, Bernstein Research analyst Toni Sacconaghi believes Apple could expand its market opportunity by 75% if it would offer an $800 device—or by 212% if it sold one for $600.
In the market, apple is going to have greater impact with its innovations in mobile phone and computer hardware. Whereas, Google has the power in the information system. Both together would be able to change the world tremendously. But in the individual race, lets see who wins.
